Well folks.. this was a GOOD ONE!!...
We pick up with Desmond and Sayid in the chopper heading out to the freighter. Desmond holds the photo of him and Penny. Sayid asks what he expects when he gets to the freighter? Desmond says answers. Sayid notices a handwritten "cheat sheet" on the controls and asks Lapidus if he knows where the freighter is. Lapidus doesn't appreciate the question and says he knows where it is. It gets dark as they fly directly into a storm, and the turbulence increases. Suddenly, they hear a loud noise and see a quick blast of violet light, and BZAAM.
Desmond is back in basic training at his military base with a sergeant yelling at him to get on his feet. Desmond's disoriented, doesn't know what's going on. The sergeant orders everyone in the yard double time. As they're doing sit ups, Desmond tries to explain to his friend how vivid the dream was, like he was there. But he's caught by the sergeant, and in the middle of the sergeant yelling at him BZAAM.
Desmond is back on the chopper, but Desmond is panicked and confused. He tries to undo his harness. He's afraid and confused. Sayid asks him what he's doing, but Desmond says, "Who are you? How do you know my name?"
At the beach camp, Jack asks Charlotte if the chopper took off a day ago, why haven't they heard from them? Charlotte doesn't know but doesn't seem worried about it. Faraday tells Jack and Juliet that their perception of how long they've been gone is not necessarily how long they've actually been gone. As long as Lapidus flew on the bearing Faraday gave him and stayed on it, then everything should be okay. If he didn't, there might be side effects.
The chopper lands on the ship. Desmond freaks out, says he doesn't know anyone. Two big, tough looking guys, Omar and Keamy, come out and ask Lapidus why he came back with two crash survivors. Lapidus tells them Desmond was okay coming out but they hit some weather... Keamy cuts him off and says they'll take him to sick bay and let the doctor check him out. Desmond says he doesn't know those guys, that he's not supposed to be BZAAM.
Desmond is back at the military base with his sergeant yelling at him, exactly where he left off. Desmond is shocked and speechless. The sergeant orders everyone to run, and Desmond gets dirty looks from the squad. Later, as they load a truck in the rain, he tries to explain it to his friend. Desmond says he left. He was on a boat with an Arab who seemed to know him, and then he realizes he also had a photo of Penny. He races off to a pay phone when BZAAM.
Desmond is back on the freighter being led to the sick bay. Keamy and Omar introduce themselves and say they last ported in Fiji so they know they're still in the Pacific. They lock him in sick bay, and someone behind him shouts out. Desmond turns around to find a man strapped down to one of the beds. The man asks if it's happening to him, too. But then the man goes catatonic. Desmond yells at him trying to bring him around. Then, almost like someone flipped a switch, the guy is back. He says he was just on a Ferris wheel.
On the freighter deck, Sayid talks to Lapidus and asks what's happening to Desmond. If they took off at dusk, how did they land on the ship during the day? Lapidus doesn't have any answers. Sayid asks to use the phone to call Jack. Lapidus warns him the phones only call each other, so don't bother trying to reach Baghdad. Sayid calls Jack, and tells him something happened to Desmond during the flight. Faraday tells them they don't know why but coming to and from the island causes people to become a little confused if they don't do it just right. He asks if Desmond has been recently exposed to high levels of radiation or electromagnetism. Jack and Juliet exchange a look. They know he definitely has. Juliet asks if it's amnesia, but Faraday says no, it's not.
Down in sick bay, the doctor enters. The man strapped down says it's happening to Desmond, too. It's gonna happen to all of them once they start heading to the island again. Ray, the doctor, gives the man a sedative and the man goes to sleep. Ray pulls out a penlight and checks Desmond's eyes. Ray asks what was the last thing he remem BZAAM.
Desmond is back at the military base at the pay phone, a minute after he was last there. He calls Penny and tells her he's confused. He needs to see her. She asks why she would still care about him after he broke up with her? Penny tells him not to bother her and not to come to her flat because she's moved. Desmond asks where, he needs BZAAM.
He's back on the freighter, completing his sentence not to Penny but to the doctor. Ray asks if Desmond just experienced something. Lapidus enters with Sayid, says Faraday wants to talk to Desmond. Ray doesn't want them down there, but Sayid slams him against the wall and orders Lapidus to give Desmond the phone. Ray reaches over and hits an alarm. Sayid yells to give Desmond the phone. Now! Faraday asks Desmond what year he thinks it is. Desmond tells him it's 1996. Okay... Then Faraday asks where he is in 1996. Desmond says Camp Millar, Royal Scots regiment north of Glasgow. Faraday tells him to go to Oxford University, Queen's College physics department. He wants Desmond to find him there.
Back on the beach, Faraday frantically looks for his journal. Jack wants to know why Desmond thinks it's 1996. Faraday says it's a random, unpredictable effect. The displacement is sometimes only a couple hours, other times it's years. He finds the journal and gets back on the phone with Desmond. Faraday says when Desmond finds him, tell him to set the device to 2.342 oscillating at eleven hertz. If he needs convincing, Desmond should tell him he knows about Eloise and BZAAM.
Desmond is back at Camp Millar at the pay phone. He gets up and heads for Oxford. He finds Faraday, who is one of the instructors at Oxford. Desmond tells him he's just been to the future and spoke to Faraday there. Faraday doesn't believe him, so Desmond gives him the numbers: 2.342 oscillating at eleven hertz. Faraday wants to know who told him those numbers. It's clear Faraday doesn't believe him, so Desmond says he knows about Eloise.
Faraday brings Desmond to his lab. There he has a maze set up with a device mounted on a boom-arm. Faraday sets the dials to the numbers Desmond gave him and brings out Eloise, a large white rat. Faraday explains that if the numbers Desmond gave him are correct, his device will unstick Eloise in time. He flips a switch and BZZTT! A blast of purple light washes over the rat. The rat just sits there. Still. Desmond starts to ask what happened but Faraday shushes him. He said Eloise isn't back yet. Then the rat becomes alert and takes off, running the maze perfectly. It worked! Faraday explains he only finished the maze that morning and he won't teach Eloise to run it until an hour from now. Desmond asks if he sent her to the future, and Faraday says just her consciousness. Her mind. Desmond asks how that helps him, but Faraday is confused. He's supposed to help Desmond? He thought Desmond came to help him. Desmond only knows that Faraday ends up on an island. But why would BZAAM.
Back in sick bay, Keamy rips the phone out of Desmond's hand. Lapidus is ordered to go see the captain. They slam the door and lock Desmond and Sayid inside. Desmond says he has to go back, that Faraday said he'd help. When the man strapped on the bed hears Sayid call Desmond by his name, he speaks up and tells them he's George Minkowski, the communications officer. All calls went through him in the radio room. Every so often he would get an incoming call he was not supposed to answer. Those calls were from Desmond's girlfriend, Penelope Widmore. BZAAM.
Desmond comes to in Faraday's lab. Faraday says he was out for 75 minutes. How long was he in the future? Desmond says about five minutes. Faraday guesses that the progression is exponential. Each time his consciousness jumps, it gets harder and harder to jump back. Then Desmond notices that Eloise is dead, and the implication that the same thing could happen to him is disturbing. Faraday guesses it was a brain aneurysm, that maybe the rat's brain short-circuited. Eloise couldn't tell the difference between the present and the future because she had no anchor, no constant: something familiar in both times to provide stability. Desmond has nothing familiar in the future, no constant. If he wants it to stop, he has to find something there, something he really cares about, that also exists here. Desmond asks if it can be a person. Faraday says maybe, as long as he can make contact. Desmond races out but BZAAM.
He's back on the freighter. Desmond tells Minkowski he needs to call Penny. Minkowski tells him someone sabotaged all the equipment two days ago. They lost all communications with the mainland. He could've fixed the radio but then he went nuts. Desmond asks if there's a way out, and Minkowski points to the door, it's unlocked and open. They obviously have a friend onboard. Desmond notices Minkowski's nose is bleeding. Sayid says the corridors are clear BZAAM.
Desmond comes to in a stairwell. He races off to an auction house in London where Charles Widmore is bidding on the ship's journal from the Black Rock. Widmore wins the bid, and Desmond asks to speak with him. Widmore says okay and goes inside a bathroom, fully expecting Desmond to follow. Desmond tells Widmore he needs to get in touch with Penny. Widmore berates Desmond, and Desmond asks why Widmore hates him so much. Widmore laughs, says it's not him who hates Desmond, and gives him Penny's new address. BZAAM.
Desmond is back on the freighter. Minkowski understands. It's getting harder to come back and it starts happening faster. As they make their way up to the radio room, Minkowski explains that he and Brandon decided to take the ship's tender out to see the island. Brandon started acting crazy so they had to turn around. Desmond asks where's Brandon now. Minkowski says in a body bag.
They reach the radio room, and Sayid starts fixing the phone. Suddenly, Minkowski falls limp on the table. Sayid says after Desmond makes the call, someone needs to tell him precisely what is going on. Desmond sees a calendar and realizes it 2004. Minkowski's body begins to twitch, and he cries out he can't get back. Then he goes slack. He's dead, and Desmond knows the same thing is going to happen to him, too. BZAAM.
In 1996 London, Desmond races to Penny's new address and knocks. When she sees it's him, she wants nothing to do with him. Desmond asks for her new number. He says he made a huge mistake and that he never should have broken up with her. Penny tells him his apologies don't matter. Desmond explains that eight years from then, in 2004, he's going to call her on Christmas Eve. She reluctantly gives it to him and he begs her not to change it. She kicks him out and BZAAM.
Desmond is back on the freighter. Desmond quickly repeats Penny's number to Sayid, and the call goes through. Desmond waits as it rings, hoping it goes through. Then, "Hello?" Penny picks up. Desmond can't believe she answered, and Penny can't believe he called. She asks where he is, and he explains he's been on an island. He asks if she still cares about him, and she says yes. She's been searching for him for three years. She knows about the island, she's been doing research on it. A burst of static drowns her out. She comes back in and says when she talked to Charlie, she knew he was still alive. Desmond tells Penny he loves her and always will. Penny says no matter what, she'll find him. She loves him and then the phone goes dead. The battery died, but it was enough. Desmond recognizes Sayid and is all right now.
At the beach camp, Faraday flips through his journal and sees an entry that reads, "If anything goes wrong, Desmond Hume will be my constant."

Michael
Michael & Walt also escaped the island.
Are they included in the Oceanic Six?
That would explain Kate's disgust to Jacks questioning whether or not she attended 'the funeral'. It would have been Michael. Kate didn't like Michael, since she was on his "list" of people to kidnap & bring to the others. He betrayed his friends, killed libby & ana-lucia, kidnapped his four friends & brought them to the others and freed Ben.
I think Micheal is also Ben's spy on the ship.
I don't remember where I heard it, but I *think* I heard that Michael was coming back to the show.

Episode Recap - "Eggtown"
Locke fixes breakfast and takes it to Ben, whom he now has locked in the basement. Ben asks why he was moved out of the rec room. Locke says he wanted Ben under his own roof. Locke asks again who Ben's spy is on the ship. Ben points out that hitting dead ends, unable to contact Jacob and not knowing what to do next, Locke is more lost than he ever was.
Kate is staying with Claire, but Sawyer offers his house (once he gets Hurley to move out). Kate says she's not moving in with him, and Sawyer wants to know why she even stayed. She won't tell Sawyer because she doesn't trust him. Sawyer asks if it's because of the pregnancy thing, which makes Kate mad. She tells him to go home.
WHOOSH to Kate being led into the LA criminal courthouse surrounded by reporters and photographers. It's the start of Kate's trial, and the charges are read to the court: fraud, arson, assault on a federal officer, assault with a deadly weapon, grand larceny, grand theft auto and murder in the first degree. Kate pleads not guilty, even though we've seen her do every one of those things. Then something unexpected happens: Kate is denied bail and taken into custody. Snap, snap. Kate is back in cuffs.
WHOOSH to the beach camp where Jin practices his English with Sun by naming the American cities they can live in after they're rescued. Sun tells Jin she wants to go back to Korea to raise her baby. Jin reminds her it's their baby. Jack and Juliet return with Faraday and Charlotte. Jack explains that Sayid and Desmond left on the helicopter and flew to the freighter to bring help. Sun asks about Kate, and is concerned to learn that she stayed with Locke's group.
At the barracks, Kate wants to know where Locke is keeping Miles. She wants to talk to him, but Locke tells her no. He's not running a democracy. Kate says that makes it a dictatorship, but Locke points out that if he were a dictator, he'd just shoot her and get on with his day. Not to be stopped, Kate intercepts Hurley taking food to Miles and tricks the location out of him: Miles is in the boat house. Kate goes there and asks Miles if he knows who she is and what she did. Miles makes a deal with her: he'll answer her questions only if she brings him Ben.
WHOOSH to the Los Angeles county jail. Kate and her lawyer, Duncan Forrester, go over strategy. Forrester says the only way to win the case is to make it about character, not about what she did. He wants to bring him in. Kate refuses. She won't allow him to use her son.
Cut to mid-trial when Forrester unexpectedly calls Jack to the stand. Kate is taken aback. The Judge reminds the jury that Jack is only a character witness who did not meet Kate until after her alleged crimes. Forrester begins to ask Jack questions, and we finally get our first window into the story of the Oceanic Six. Jack says they were both passengers on Oceanic flight 815 which crash-landed on an island in the South Pacific. He learned from Kate that she was being transported by a U. S. Marshal who died during the crash. Only eight survived the crash. They landed in the water, and he was hurt pretty badly. If it wasn't for Kate, he wouldn't have made it to shore. Kate got the survivors first aid, water, food and shelter. She tried to save the other two but
Suddenly Kate shouts for him to stop. She doesn't want him to say anything else. Forrester complies and ends the questioning. The D.A. asks Jack only one question does he love Kate. Jack wasn't expecting that question. He takes a moment and then says no, not anymore.
WHOOSH to Kate folding laundry with Claire. She finds out that Ben is in the basement but that Locke rarely leaves the house. As Kate thinks about that complication to her plan, Aaron starts to cry. Claire asks Kate to pick him up, but Kate is hesitant. She claims she's not good with babies and wouldn't want to make him more upset. Claire picks Aaron up, and he immediately calms down. Kate is impressed. Claire is so good with him. How did she know what to do?
At Sawyer's house, they argue over how loud the TV is when Kate drops by. Hurley makes himself scarce as Sawyer and Kate chat. Kate tries to be casual but Sawyer sees right through it. He knows she wants to use him for something. Kate admits she does. She wants his help to bust Ben out.
Sawyer shows up at Locke's house to play backgammon. Sawyer admits he's concerned about Kate and asks for Locke's word he won't do anything to her. Locke agrees and then Sawyer rats Kate out. He says she just came to him wanting help to bust Ben out because Miles wants to talk to him. Locke says Kate doesn't even know where Miles is. In the boat house? Sawyer says if Hurley knows, everyone knows. Locke feels that whatever Miles wants to say to Ben, he can say to him.
Once they're gone SMASH! Kate busts a window and breaks into Locke's house with Miles. It was all a big con to get Locke out of the house, and Sawyer was in on it. Kate drags Miles down to the basement. Miles offers Ben a deal. He can tell his boss where Ben is, or tell him that Ben is already dead in exchange for $3.2 million. Ben agrees. Kate drags Miles out and demands the answer to her question. Yes, they know who she is and what she did. So if they know, the outside world knows. Miles suggests she stay on the island. Maybe she didn't survive the crash. Kate shoves him up the stairs right as Locke returns and catches them. Angry, he orders Kate back to her house.
WHOOSH to a courthouse conference room. Forrester tells Kate she has a visitor her mother. Diane wants to know if what Jack said was true, that Kate was a hero. Kate doesn't want to talk to her. Diane doesn't want to fight. She's sick and doesn't know how long she has left. Everything changed for her when she thought Kate was dead. She doesn't want to testify against Kate. She wants to meet her grandson. Kate gets angry. That's all she came for? To make a deal? Kate ends their meeting.
Back in the courtroom, the D.A. scrambles when Kate's mom suddenly becomes unable to testify. The two sides confer, and the D.A. offers a deal: four years jail time. Forrester says no and counters with ten years probation. The D.A. laughs at it. Forrester reiterates that Kate Austen is a worldwide hero who saved five other people's lives after a plane crash, nearly starved to death on a deserted island, rescued her mother from an abusive husband, and has been locked up in solitary since her arraignment. Plus, the prosecution has no significant witness to testify against Kate. There's no way a jury is going to give her actual time. The D.A. realizes Forrester has a point and offers time already served plus ten years probation but Kate can't leave the state. Kate takes it. She wants to walk out the back door, no press, no photographers, and just have it over. The D.A. asks if she can stay put. Kate says she has a child, she's not going anywhere.
WHOOSH back to Kate's house. Locke comes in and demands to know what Miles and Ben said to each other. Kate tells him, and then Locke orders her to leave. He wants her gone by morning. Kate goes to Sawyer and tells him what happened. Sawyer un-banishes her and says she can live with him. He'll keep her safe.
At the beach camp, Jack and Juliet confront Faraday and Charlotte no one on the freighter is answering their call. Charlotte calls a different number and finds out that the chopper never made it to the ship. But if it's not there, then where is it?
The next morning, Sawyer starts making out with Kate, but she pushes him away. He understands they didn't make love the night before because she was sad, but how could she resist the whole "keep you safe" thing? Then he realizes she's worried she might be pregnant. Kate tells him no, she's not pregnant. She's sure. And pure joy floods Sawyer's face. He's so relieved. But Kate is hurt. She asks if her being pregnant would've been the worst thing in the world, and Sawyer says yes. What would they have done with a baby? Kate decides to go back to the beach, and this makes Sawyer mad. He tells her she didn't want to have a baby any more than he did. She was just looking for an excuse to split. He'll just wait a week for her to find some reason to get mad at Jack and bounce right back to him. Kate slaps him and leaves.
WHOOSH to Kate leaving the courthouse, and she finds Jack is waiting by the taxi. Kate thanks him for saying what he did. Though he's told that story so many times she almost thinks he believes it. Jack says he wanted to let her know he didn't mean what he said and asks if she wants to get a coffee. There's a flicker of hope in Kate's eyes, and she invites Jack over to see the baby. Jack says no, he can't. Kate says she knows why he doesn't want to see the baby. And until he does, there's no him and her getting coffee.
Kate leaves and goes home. A nanny tells her he missed her so much. Kate asks if she kept him away from the TV, and the nanny says yes. She just put him down for a nap. Kate goes upstairs and gently wakes him. He's thrilled to see her and gives her a big hug. Kate hugs him back and says, "Hi, Aaron."

Gonna go back in time............
So these flashbacks really have me thinking a lot. And since I have seen the shows most recently, my memory might be a little more fresh. Here are some of the highlights. Let me know what I missed.
Jack: In his flashbacks we have seen Desmond running with him in the stadium.
Boone/Shannon: Their father was the one that allegedly hit Jack's (future) wife. While they were in the hospital to hear he had died, Jack walked quickly passed them.
Kate: She helped Sawyer's girlfriend/con woman run a con at a gas station:
Sawyer: Met with his conman "teacher" at the diner where Kate's mom worked. Her mom was their waitress. Also had drinks with Jack's dad prior to his death.
Charlie: Saved Sayid's Iraqi girlfriend from getting mugged in an alley in England
Locke: When he was inspecting homes (right as this car was following him who turned out to be his father), the home he was inspecting was also for Sayid's Iraqi girlfriend.
Desmond: Aside from seeing Jack, he also saw Charlie singing on the side of the road.
Claire: Met with a psychic who turned out to have a daughter that "came back to life". Echo went to visit their family when he was part of the church.
Jin: When he drove to that man's house to threaten him for his father and law, the man's tv was on in the background. On the tv was the news with Hurley on it for winning the lottery. (Although I really dont know why an American lottery winner would be on an Asian newscast)
Ana Lucia: She flew with Jack's dad to Australia, actually bumped into Sawyer with her car outside the bar.
Hurley: Was in the mental hospital with Libby.
Do they all mean something? Do they mean nothing at all? Could all of us really be somewhat connected to that many people we are on a plane with? I know thats a real stretch (what part of this show isnt?) I mean, its not like they are all long lost brothers/sisters. Sawyer didn't know that sitting a few rows from him in the plane would be his parents, manipulating friends, boss', son. (Locke). The whole flasback thing could just be the writer's exaggeration of 6 degrees of separation. That we are all connected.......... That or something completely different.
Forgive me but...
"Forgive me but the day I start trusting him is the day I would have sold my soul."
That is what Sayid said to Locke about Ben when they were in the Barracks after Locke took Sayid prisoner. Now that we know that Sayid does eventually trust Ben... enough to kill for him; Does that mean that Sayid "sells his soul" eventually? And who is it that you sell your soul to? Usually, the devil. Does that mean that Ben is the devil? Since his main strength is that he can manipulate people with his words, like the devil does in the Bible, it would make a lot of sense...
Why does the bad guy have to have such a great name?

Lists
In last weeks episode, Sayid told Elsa that he was killing people off of a list (made by Ben?).
Goodwin & Ethan were told by Ben to infiltrate the survivors and to return with "lists"
Hurley made a list of all survivors & checked it against the manifest of Oceanic 815. I believe this was how they 'outed' Ethan.
Michael was given a list of survivors to abduct & return to the Others in order to get Walt back.
It included: Sawyer, Kate, Jack & Hurley.
Are there other lists I'm forgetting? I vaguely remember a mention of "Jacob's List"...
Is there something "special" about the people on the lists? Are the same people on all of the lists?

Good V. Bad
Are the 'rescue' team good or bad?
Are the 'others' good or bad?
Ben?
Locke?
Rousseau?
It's getting difficult to tell....
Something interesting to me is the fact that John Locke is also the name of a 17th century political philosopher., often referred to as the "philospher of freedom."
JL the philosopher worked closely with Anthony Cooper, a politician (also JL father's name in Lost) and helped to save his life from a liver infection (As JL saved his father with his kidney).
Jean -Jaques Rousseau is also the name of an influential 18th Century Philospher, with ideas similar to Lockes. Rousseau believed that people were born 'good' and that society and experiences and teaching are what corrupt people.
Both Lockes & Rousseau's political writings influenced the French (& American) Revolution.
So, I guess it all depends which side you are on when it comes to figuring out who is "good" and who is "bad".
In the end, I believe that everyone is good and believes that they are doing what is right and are doing what they feel is necessary for survival.
Kinda like real life.
