Episode Recap - "Meet Kevin Johnson"
Locke holds a group meeting in his house and promises there will be no more secrets. He brought Miles with him, and Miles tells the group that he was hired for one reason: find Benjamin Linus. This is not a surprise to anyone. Sawyer wants to simply turn Ben over to them, but Ben informs them that once they have him, their orders are to kill everyone on the island. The seriousness of that sinks in. Ben says he knows this because his spy on the ship is Michael. Hurley and Sawyer are upset. The guy who killed two women in cold blood to set Ben free, then sold all of them out so he could get off the island? Yes, that Michael.
As the meeting ends, Ben calls Alex, Rousseau and Karl over. He gives them a map to the Temple and tells them it's a sanctuary and maybe the only safe place on the island. He wants them to go there. Karl asks why not take everyone, and Ben says the Temple is for them. Alex asks if the people coming are more dangerous than Ben. He says yes, but her mother will protect her. Rousseau is touched by this gesture, and they leave.
On the freighter, Sayid and Desmond are woken up by an alarm. Two guys were trying to steal the tender and get off the freighter, but Captain Gault stopped them and is beating them to a bloody mess. Captain Gault tells them that the rules of desertion apply to everyone. He orders a deckhand, Kevin Johnson, to clean up the mess, and Michael steps forward. Sayid seizes the opportunity to ask Michael what he's doing there, but Michael is nervous the Captain will notice them talking. Sayid persists, and Michael says he's there to die.
The next morning, Sayid and Desmond find Michael in the engine room helping with the repairs. Sayid wants to know why Michael's on board, and Michael says he won't understand. Sayid says he'll understand perfectly and orders Michael to start from the beginning. Michael realizes he has no choice, so we WHOOSH to
Michael's crappy New York apartment. Michael's disheveled, worn and depressed. As he writes a letter, he looks up to photo of him holding Walt as a baby. Michael finishes the letter and leaves. He gets inside his car and pins the note to his jacket. Then he takes off down the street, drives to the piers, going faster and faster, hurtling towards a huge metal container and then CRRAAASSSHHH!! He smashes into the container at full impact!
Cut to a hospital as Michael wakes up. A nurse comes in and tells Michael it's a miracle he's still alive. It's a cold night and she brought him some extra blankets. She steps into the light and it's Libby, one of the women Michael shot and killed! Michael screams and wakes up in the hospital. It was a dream. The real nurse comes in, and it's not Libby. She tells Michael he's lucky to be alive. He had no I.D. on him, so she asks for his name. Michael won't answer. Then she asks if she wants him to contact Walt. The note pinned to his jacket was written to Walt. Michael says no.
Michael leaves the hospital and goes to his Mom's house. However she won't let him in. He asks to see Walt, but she refuses. Whatever Michael said to him, Walt doesn't want to see him. Michael says he has a right to see him, but his Mom tells him he gave up any rights he had. She thought he had died but then he shows up alive with Walt. She can't tell anyone about them, and she can't call them by their real names. Now Walt wakes up in the middle of the night screaming, and she's the one who has to comfort him. Michael leaves, and asks that she tell Walt he loves him. Then he looks up and sees Walt in a second floor window. Before he can say anything, Walt closes the curtains and disappears from view.
Michael goes into a seedy pawn shop and pawns his watch. The owner asks how come it's got Korean writing on it, and Michael explains it was a gift from a friend who was Korean. Michael doesn't want money he wants a gun. With bullets. The owner makes the deal, and Michael takes the gun to an alley and loads it. He puts the gun to his chin, and when he's just about to pull the trigger
A familiar voice asks for the time. Michael looks over and sees Tom Friendly! Michael tries to shoot Friendly, but he grabs Michael's wrist and twists it painfully to the side. Michael drops the gun, and then immediately punches Friendly. He blocks Michael's blows, but Michael finds an empty champagne bottle and slams it up against Friendly's head. Friendly grabs the gun and holds it up to Michael's head, ending the fight. Michael tells him to shoot him, but Friendly won't.
Michael asks how he found him, and Friendly asks if Michael honestly thought they weren't going to keep tabs on him. Friendly guesses that Michael wants to kill himself because he couldn't keep the guilt of killing Ana Lucia and Libby to himself and now can't stand that Walt knows he's a murderer. Well, Friendly's got even more bad news: the island won't let Michael kill himself. No matter how bad he wants to or how many different ways he tries it, it won't happen. Michael has more work to do. Friendly tells Michael he's staying at the Hotel Earle when Michael's ready to talk.
Michael goes home, more despondent than ever. He puts the gun to his head and pulls the trigger. Click. Nothing. Michael checks the barrel all six rounds are loaded. He tries it again and is interrupted by a news report the wreckage of Oceanic flight 815 was found with all 324 passengers on board.
Michael immediately goes to Friendly's hotel. Michael asks why his plane is on the bottom of the ocean. Friendly tells him it's not his plane, it's a phony. A man named Widmore staged the whole thing 'cause he doesn't want anyone finding where the real plane ended up. Friendly gives Michael a file with proof: the cemetery in Thailand where Widmore dug up the 324 graves for the corpses; the purchase order for the 777 through a shell company; the shipping logs from the freighter he used to drop the whole thing down a trench deep enough to guarantee that no remains would ever be identified.
In a few days Widmore has a freighter that's leaving port from Fiji. The Others have reason to believe he's found the coordinates of the island. They want Michael to be their spy on the boat. They've already arranged a job for him as a deckhand under the name Kevin Johnson. Michael asks why they think he'll work for them, and Friendly tells him if Widmore finds the island everybody on it dies. If Michael wants to redeem himself for what he did, this is his only chance. Michael says he can't go back to the island, and Friendly tells him he's not going back to the island. He's going on the freighter so he can kill everyone on board.
At the port of Suva in Fiji, Michael meets George Minkowski and Naomi when he reports for duty. Naomi tells him a crate arrived for him. Friendly calls him on his cell phone and asks if he got the package. Michael says yes. Friendly tells him to wait until they're in the open sea before he opens it. Michael is starting to get cold feet about it now, and Friendly reminds him of Sun, Sawyer, Jack, Claire and her baby back on the island and asks if Michael's in. Yeah, Michael's in.
Michael picks a time to open the crate and discovers it's a bomb. Resigned to his fate, Michael arms the bomb and presses the execute button but instead of an explosion, a tiny white flag pops out with two words printed on it: not yet.
Later on the ship, Michael gets a call. It's Ben. Michael immediately lays into him for making him think the bomb was real. Ben is surprised Michael actually activated it. Ben explains that there are people on the freighter who are innocent, who have no idea the man they're working for is a monster. Ben may do whatever he needs to win, but he will not kill innocent people. Ben tells Michael to compile a list of the people on the freighter, report back, then disable the radio room and the engines. The freighter will never reach the island, and his friends will be safe. And if Michael does that, he can consider himself one of the good guys.
We WHOOSH back to the engine room as Michael finishes telling Sayid and Desmond his story. However, Sayid is not happy to hear that Michael is working for Benjamin Linus. He grabs Michael and forces him into Captain Gault's room. Sayid tells him Michael is the one who sabotaged the radio and engines. Michael was with him on flight 815, and he's a traitor.
On the island, Rousseau, Alex and Karl stop for break on their way to the Temple. Suddenly, silenced bullet rounds whiz through the air, and Karl is hit! He falls over dead. They're under attack! Rousseau tells Alex she loves her very much, and on three they're going to get up and run. But when they take off, SSNAP! Rousseau is hit, and she falls over dead, too. Alex yells out to save her own life and tells them to stop shooting. She's Ben's daughter she's his daughter!
As the meeting ends, Ben calls Alex, Rousseau and Karl over. He gives them a map to the Temple and tells them it's a sanctuary and maybe the only safe place on the island. He wants them to go there. Janitor Kevin Johnson
Something has really bothered me about Kevin Johnson (Michael). Im not sure if this has been discussed here or not but shouldn't the obvious suspect on the freighter who is screwing things up be Michael? I mean, he is a lonely janitor and the newest member. Shouldn't he be the first one that gets blamed? Why are they surprised?
So I ask, what if Micahel isnt the newest member on the freighter after all. What if he is part of the original team? The only one we know right now who can come and go as they please from that island and through time is Ben. Ben was the one who told Michael specifically what bearing (sp) to stay on. Michael could have gone back in time (maybe 3 years) and joined that freighter team from the begining, thus not making him a suspect.
Ben knows whats gonna happen. He can see into the future because he has been getting information from his man on the boat the whole time. Well how in the hell could he be getting information when he has been in either Locke, Sawyer or anyone else's custody this whole time? Yet, Ben still knows whats going on. He knows whats going on because he has seen the future and knows what is up.

Episode Recap - "Ji Yeon"
Sorry for the delay.. I haven't watched it yet!... been so busy.
On the freighter, Keamy checks in with Lapidus and asks if he's ready. Lapidus says he'll be ready. Keamy warns him not to be late. Lapidus continues below where he runs into Regina, who is standing guard outside sick bay, where Sayid and Desmond are. Regina is acting strange, and Lapidus notices the book she's reading is upside down. Lapidus brings Sayid and Desmond food cans of lima beans. Sayid asks if Lapidus has had contact with their friends, and Lapidus says no, something must have happened to their phone.
At the beach camp, Jin wants to talk about baby names but Sun thinks it's bad luck. Jin is hoping for a girl and wants to name her Ji Yeon, but Sun teases him and says it's going to be a boy. However, Sun is worried since Sayid and Desmond haven't returned yet or contacted them. She makes Jin a promise they get off the island first and then they can pick a name.
WHOOSH to Sun in her Seoul apartment packing. She feels a sharp pain and winces. She calls emergency services, telling them she's pregnant and she thinks something is wrong. Then we see that Sun is nine months pregnant! We are in the future, and Sun is the latest member of the Oceanic Six.
Jin runs into a Seoul toy store, frantic, and asks for a stuffed panda bear. He doesn't have time he has to get to the maternity ward. He doesn't even know if it's a boy or a girl yet. He pays for the panda and runs out.
WHOOSH to the beach camp as Jack and Kate return. Kate explains that Charlotte knocked her out, and Sun becomes concerned. She asks if Faraday and Charlotte are really there to rescue them. Kate doesn't think so. Sun confronts Faraday and asks point blank if they are there to rescue them. Faraday is evasive and says it really isn't his call to make. Sun asks whose call is it, but Faraday won't respond. That's all the answer Sun needs, and she makes up her mind. She tells Jin to get supplies together and not tell anyone. They're going to Locke's camp.
WHOOSH to the hospital as Sun is wheeled in. A nurse tries to remove her wedding ring, and Sun tells her to stop. The nurse explains it's for the swelling, but Sun is adamant. The doctor comes in and tells Sun the baby is in distress. Sun asks them to get Jin, and the doctor assures her they're trying to reach him.
Jin is on a busy Seoul street and flags down a taxi. He puts the stuffed panda inside and gets a call on his cell phone. But he is jostled by a passerby and drops the phone. Before he can pick it up a guy on a moped runs over the phone and crushes it. Then someone else rushes by Jin and gets in his taxi. The cab speeds off and Jin realizes the panda is still inside. Frustrated, he runs back into the toy shop and buys another panda.
WHOOSH back to the beach as Juliet catches Sun going through her stuff. Sun asks for another bottle of the prenatal vitamins. Juliet asks about the last bottle she gave Sun there should be twenty left. Sun doesn't want to discuss it, and Juliet realizes Sun is planning to go somewhere. Sun tells her they're going to Locke's camp. Juliet is shocked. She reminds Sun that women who get pregnant on the island die. Sun points out that Claire's baby is fine, and she feels fine. All she has is Juliet's stories that she'll die, and she doesn't trust Juliet. Sun is going to do what's best for her and for her baby.
On the freighter, Sayid and Desmond are slipped a note that reads, "Don't trust the captain." The doctor comes in and tells them that the Captain would now like to talk to them. As he leads them up, Sayid notices the helicopter is gone and asks where Lapidus went. The doctor doesn't know. Desmond watches as Regina steps up over the railing with a piece of heavy metal chain wrapped around herself and jumps overboard! They scramble to do something, but a voice bellows out for them to stop. They look up and see the captain standing on the bridge. He tells them she's gone and orders everyone back to their posts.
At the beach camp, Kate gives Sun a hand-drawn map to the barracks. Before they can leave, Juliet steps up and says they aren't going anywhere. She asks Sun to translate for Jin, but Sun refuses. However, Jin knows enough English by this point to understand what Juliet says. Juliet tells him Sun is sick, that if she doesn't get off the island in three weeks she will die. Jin becomes alarmed, but Sun tells him to ignore her. Jin tells Juliet that where Sun goes, he goes. They walk off. Juliet is desperate and shouts out that Sun had an affair. Jin stops, and Juliet tells him Sun was with another man. She thought the baby was his. Sun slaps Juliet. Hard. That's enough to convince Jin it's the truth and he leaves, walking back to camp. Sun is devastated.
Back on the freighter, Sayid and Desmond meet Captain Gault. Sayid asks why he didn't do anything to save Regina. Gault says he didn't want to lose anymore crew. He thinks the crew is experiencing a heightened form of cabin fever because of their proximity to the island. Sayid asks why don't they just turn around. Gault says they've tried but someone sabotaged their engines. He's been working around the clock to repair them. Once it's done, Gault's orders are to move to safer waters. Sayid asks whom he gets his orders from, and Gault tells him Charles Widmore.
Desmond is shocked it's Charles Widmore's boat. Gault shows them the black box recovered from flight 815 on the bottom of the ocean. Gault tells them it took a considerable about of Widmore's resources to procure it. The wreckage was obviously staged, and Gault asks who could arrange the resources and manpower to pull off a feat like that. Who could fake the recovery of a plane crash? Where does one find 324 dead bodies? That is just one reason why they want Benjamin Linus.
At the beach camp, Juliet tells Sun she had to stop her from going any way she could. She also wants to get off the island. More than anything. She's not sure if the boat is their answer but it's something. She needs to get home, and so does Sun. In about three weeks, Sun will be in a constant state of nausea. A week after that, she'll experience shortness of breath. Then in another week she'll slip into a coma and die. And once Sun's heart stops beating, so does the baby's. Sun is Juliet's patient, and that's why she had to stop her. If Sun goes to Locke's camp, Sun will die and the baby will never be born.
WHOOSH to a delivery room where the doctor tells Sun they have to do a C-section. Sun says no, they need to wait for Jin. They doctor tells her he is not there, that they have no choice. Suddenly the baby crowns, and the doctor tells Sun to push. Sun cries out in pain and pushes. Her baby is born, and the doctor places it in Sun's arms. It's a little girl, just like Jin wanted. Sun begins to cry.
WHOOSH back to the freighter as the doctor leads Sayid and Desmond to their new quarters. However, there's still a dried blood stain on the wall. The doctor notices a deckhand down the corridor and orders him to mop it up. As the man comes into the light, we see it's Michael! The doctor introduces him as Kevin Johnson. Sayid stares at him hard but doesn't betray his cover.
At the beach camp, Jin returns to his tent. Jin tells Sun he understands who he used to be, a man who withheld his affections, who cared more about his job than her. So he understands whatever Sun did was a reaction to that man, and he forgives her. Sun cries and tells Jin she loves him. Jin says he loves her, too. He tells her he'll go to Locke's camp with her, but Sun says she doesn't want to go. Juliet was very convincing. They have to get off the island no matter what it takes. Jin promises to protect her and the baby, but he asks one last thing. Is the baby his? Sun says yes, it's his. She hugs him and confesses that she thought she lost him. Jin tells her she will never lose him.
WHOOSH to a Seoul hospital as Jin rushes down a hallway. He finds a Chinese security agent guarding a room and asks to speak to the Ambassador. He comes out, and Jin presents the panda as a symbol of Mr. Paik's eagerness to do business with the great country of China. The Ambassador accepts the gift and says he will call Mr. Paik to set up a meeting. As Jin heads out, a nurse asks him why he's leaving. Jin says it wasn't his baby he's only been married two months. Suddenly we realize Jin wasn't rushing to see Sun. His story was different from Sun's. It wasn't a flash-forward it was a flashback.
WHOOSH to Sun's flash-forward. She's in her apartment as the doorbell rings. It's Hurley, and Sun can't believe he actually came. Hurley asks to see the baby, and Sun lets him hold her. Hurley says she looks just like Jin. They leave and go to a graveyard. But it's not any grave they're paying their respects to it's Jin's. Sun holds the baby up to the gravestone and says the delivery was hard on her. She wished he could've been there. She named the baby Ji Yeon like he wanted. Sun starts crying and says she misses him so much. And we realize that whatever happened between the island and Sun's future, Jin isn't in it.
On the freighter, Keamy checks in with Lapidus and asks if he's ready. Lapidus says he'll be ready. Keamy warns him not to be late. Lapidus continues below where he runs into Regina, who is standing guard outside sick bay, where Sayid and Desmond are.

Episode Recap - "The Other Woman"
Juliet waits in an office, playing with a miniature Japanese rock garden, when a woman rushes in and apologizes for being late. She introduces herself as Harper Stanhope and explains that today is simply a meet-and-greet. Their actual sessions start tomorrow. Juliet says she doesn't need therapy, but Harper suggests they call it "talking" rather than "therapy." Juliet has been there a week now, and Harpers asks about her least favorite part. Juliet answers being treated like a celebrity. Harper reminds her that it may feel like all eyes are on her but she's not a celebrity. They are interrupted by a knock on the door. It's Tom Friendly. He apologizes but says Ben wants to see Juliet. Harper ends their session by saying, "Welcome to the island."
Now we realize it's a flashback, and Juliet has just arrived. She meets Ben, who indicates a house in the barracks and says it's her new home. Juliet says they didn't have to go to all that trouble since she's only staying for six months. Ben pauses and simply says they wanted her to feel at home.
WHOOSH to the beach camp. Jack asks if anyone has seen Faraday or Charlotte. Jin says he saw them go into the jungle. Jack wants to know why he didn't say anything. Jin says they're friends, aren't they?
They split up and begin looking for a trail. As Juliet moves through the jungle, she hears whispers. She spins around and comes face-to-face with Harper. Long time no see. She's there to deliver a message from Ben. Faraday and Charlotte are heading for the Tempest. If they figure out how to deploy the gas, then everyone on the island dies. Ben wants Juliet to stop them. Juliet asks how Ben could know where they're going since he's a prisoner. Harper says Ben is exactly where he wants to be. He wants Juliet to kill Faraday and Charlotte. Jack comes out of the jungle with his gun aimed at Harper. Jack asks who she is. Harper says she's an old friend, and maybe Jack and his gun can help Juliet. Then they hear the whispers. Jack spins around, looking for who else is there, and when he turns back Harper is gone.
WHOOSH to a lab where Juliet sits on the floor crying. She hears something fall and break next door. She investigates and meets Goodwin. He lies and says he works at the power station and burned his arm on a transformer. Juliet tells him to take a seat, and she grabs some ointment and bandages. Goodwin notices her tears and says he heard they lost Henrietta. It's not Juliet's fault. Juliet says she's the one who's supposed to figure out why pregnant women are dying, so whose fault is it? Goodwin suggests talking to Harper, but Juliet says Harper hates her. She only talks to Harper because she has to. Plus, she gets the feeling Harper is a mean, spiteful person. Goodwin says Harper is his wife. Embarrassed, Juliet apologizes. Goodwin says don't worry about it. If she needs someone to talk to, he's around. If he promises not to tell Harper what she said, Juliet promises she won't tell anyone he lied about the chemical burn. Goodwin realizes he's busted and smiles.
WHOOSH to the jungle as Juliet and Jack trek towards the Tempest station. Juliet lies and tells Jack it's an electrical station that powers the island. Juliet asks for Jack's help to stop Faraday and Charlotte, and he agrees.
Faraday and Charlotte trek through the jungle using a hand-drawn map. Faraday asks Charlotte what happens if he can't do it. Charlotte says she knows he can do it. She's counting on him. They hear rustling in the jungle brush and draw their guns right as out pops Kate. She asks them what they're doing out in the jungle. Charlotte lies and says they're looking for their packs. Kate doesn't buy it. She searches Faraday's pack and finds gas masks inside. But Charlotte cold-cocks her from behind with the butt of her gun and knocks Kate unconscious.
WHOOSH to Juliet's lab. She explains to Ben that the problems occur sometime during the second trimester once the mother's immune system is triggered. The white cell count plummets, and it's like the immune system attacks the fetus itself. It only happens to women who conceive on the island. Goodwin interrupts them and is surprised to find Ben there. He covers and says since Ethan called in sick he had an extra lunch. Do either of them want it? Juliet already ate, plus she has an appointment with his wife in ten minutes. Ben picks up on their mutual interest.
In therapy, Harper asks Juliet about Ben. Juliet says he's smart and intense. Challenging. He's been good to her. Harper says of course, she looks just like her. But before Juliet has a chance to ask what that means, Harper asks when Juliet started sleeping with Goodwin. Juliet is caught off guard, but Harper tells her not to treat her like an idiot. She followed them. She watched them. Juliet apologizes, but Harper tells her to listen. If Juliet continues the relationship with Goodwin, there will be consequences. Harper doesn't want to see Goodwin get hurt. Juliet says she would never hurt him, but Harper isn't talking about her. She's talking about Ben.
WHOOSH to Locke bringing Ben some food. Ben asks if the revolution started yet. He says it'll start innocently enough, a question here, a comment there, but if Locke's not careful he'll have an insurrection on his hands. Especially once they realize that Locke doesn't have a plan. Ben offers to help Locke. They have the same interests, or at least a common enemy. Locke wants to know his price. Ben asks to sleep in a bed and eat with utensils, then he'll tell Locke everything he knows about the person who sent the freighter.
WHOOSH to a romantic moment between Juliet and Goodwin on a secluded beach. Goodwin tells Juliet not to worry about Ben. Ben has Goodwin working with chemicals that could kill everyone on the island if he flips the wrong switch. He tells Juliet that Ben has other things on his mind besides them. But when Ben sends Goodwin to the crash site of the tail section of flight 815, Juliet feels like Ben is doing it on purpose to get rid of him.
Later, Ben takes Juliet to see Goodwin's body. He's been impaled by a spear. They don't know what happened since there were no witnesses. Juliet accuses Ben of knowing this would happen, that he wanted it to happen. Ben tells her that after everything he's done to bring her to the island, after everything he's done to keep her there, how could she not understand that she is his.
WHOOSH to Juliet arriving at the Tempest station. She goes inside and finds Faraday at the station's control center working at the computer. Juliet holds her gun on him and orders him to get away from the computer. He says he can't do that. Faraday says he's trying not to release the gas he's trying to make it safe. Suddenly, Charlotte attacks Juliet from behind. They fight, but Juliet grabs her gun and holds it on both them. She orders Faraday to stop, but Charlotte says they're trying to disable it before Ben can use it against them. The countdown continues. Faraday frantically works to stop it. Then, with only seconds to spare, he's able to stop the process and disables the gas.
Jack and Kate catch up with Juliet and Charlotte as they're leaving the Tempest station. Charlotte takes Kate inside to explain how she and Faraday just saved everyone's life. Juliet tells Jack that the freighter people came to wage a war against Ben but Ben is going to win, and she warns Jack that he doesn't want to be near her when he does. Ben feels that Juliet is his, and he knows how she feels about Jack. Jack leans in and kisses her. Passionately. Defiantly. He tells Juliet that Ben knows where to find him.
At the barracks, Locke takes Ben upstairs to the living room, and Ben gets a tape out of a safe. It's footage of Charles Widmore beating some guy to a pulp. Ben tells Locke that Charles Widmore is the man trying to find the island and it's him who sent the freighter. Widmore wants to exploit the island, and he'll do everything in his power to posses it. The man beaten is someone working for Ben whom Widmore caught. Ben gives Locke a file containing everything he has on Widmore. In return, Locke lets Ben have his freedom, and no one is happy about it.

The Black Rock Journal
I picked up on this when I first watched "The Constant" but it only became clear how significant it was when I watched it for a second time...
Penny's father won an auction for a journal that was from the ship "Black Rock." The same Black Rock that is on the island. This journal is the only remaining piece of the ship that is known to the outside world. The rest of the ship was "lost at sea" sometime in the mid 1800's. It's contents have only been seen by the "Hanso" family... sound familiar? They are likely the founders of the Hanso Foundation.. who are responsible for the Dharma initiative.
What is the significance of Penny's father winning the auction? Does the journal have some information about how to get to the island? Does Desmond read it at some point between 1996 and 2004 and as a result, go on a journey to the island? Was the "round the world race" just a pretense for his trip to the island? Does Desmond's suspicious line to Jack from Season two "See ya in another life brother" have more significance now? Is there something that we don't know about Desmond? Does Penny's father have a bigger role to play?
