Paradise LOST

TODAY, I think that maybe Lost is an allegory to The book of Genesis; based on my memory of the epic poem Paradise Lost by John Milton and my knowledge on the books of Genesis.

Some quick thoughts (I'll be back to post more after I get these out...):

*In Lost ,the skeletons found in the cave were nick-named "adam & eve" and they were wearing clothing. Adam & Eve wore clothing after they ate the fruit. That is how God know they ate it, because they were ashamed of being naked.

*God said that once people eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil, then they would die. Not instantly, but that there immortality would be taken away. Richard Alpert appears to be immortal, since he doesn't age. Was he hanging out with A&E back in the day somehow?

*When you eat from the tree, you will be like God & know the difference between good & evil. The characters in Lost are constantly judging people as good/bad. BUT-there is really no clear indication of who/what is Good or Bad.

*In Paradise Lost, Adam & Eve had a 'tangible' relationship with God (God was a person who they could see), but after they ate the fruit, God became invisible. In Lost, some people have 'visions' that are invisible to others.

*Cain & Able, the sons of Adam & Eve could be represented by the rivalry between Benjamin Linus & Charles Widmore.

* The curse God put on Eve after she ate the fruit from the forbidden tree was to suffer terribly through childbirth. On the Island, women die when giving birth.

The frustrating thing to me is that one day this show is very clearly a parallel to the "Wizard of Oz" and the next day , I'm digging biblical references from my brain. AND THEY BOTH MAKE PERFECT SENSE!
